Interactive wallpapers?

I remember back in the days, there was a program for the computer, where you could have a pet or a virtual character walking in the background, and you could click and drag them to anywhere you would like, and they could respond to that, either by laughing, being angry or anything else really.

Now I was wondering if there is anything like this for smartphones. It would be totally useless and would waste more battery life, I know, but it would give me a good feeling. For someone that has to wake up really early and receiving no "good morning" from anyone until I arrive at work 2 hours later, it would be really good for my mood.
