Turn off lock screen notifications, delete old messages automatically...are ways to secure messages on your iPhone.
Here are 5 tips to make iPhone messaging as secure as possible
Turn off message notifications on the lock screen: A part of the message is usually displayed with a lock screen notification. To block notifications, select Settings> Notifications> Messages and turn off Show on Lock Screen in the Alert section. If the user wants to receive a message notification without displaying content on the lock screen, turn on Show on Lock Screen, select When Unlocked, or Never. in the Show Preview.
Text messaging with iPhone: Users will often use either iPad or Macbook to text message with their account. For better security, only use iPhone for messaging as this device is usually kept next to it. To block messages, select Settings> Messages and turn off unnecessary devices in Text Message Forwarding.
Automatically delete old messages: Delete old messages that free up memory and prevent others from reading it. Go to Settings> Messages and then to the Message History section, select the custom time level in the Keep Messages.
Filter messages from strangers: To block notifications and put all messages from strangers in a separate list, select Settings> Messages and turn on Filter Unknown Senders. Messages from strangers will be added to the Unknown Senders list.
Turn off read alerts: If you want to open the message for reading, but the sender does not receive a Seen message, select Settings> Messages and turn off Send Read Receipts.
