Why is Mac told to be bad for gaming?

I have been using Windows forever and I don't think I'd ever switch operating systems. It's a good thing when they told me that Windows is much better for gaming than Mac, but I have always wondered why it's like this. Why is Mac a bad choice for a gaming laptop? The only reason I see is that the price is a lot higher and you don't get that much extra out of it, but there has to be more than just the price tag, right? Can anyone enlighten me on the matter?
