What does a chromecast do?

Can someone explain to me the concept of chromecast ?

I never used this app neither I do know how it works.

I've heard for it but I would like to hear it out from you.

If anyone has some info, that would be great.

To my understanding chromecast is a streaming device. Its a module (dongle) that you plug in a TV thru HDMI port. You can use chromecast to access video content from Youtube , Netflix and others.

You can control the content using your smartphone with WIFI connection. In simpler terms its a digital media player.

Hmmm, looks interesting.
I have a Roku device and never used anything else.
I suppose, the only way to use chromecast is to have a smart TV ?

Yes, it works on most TV with HDMI even though its not a smart TV. Roku is the same way how chromecast works, i think the only difference is the brand. If im not mistaking ROKU is a Japanese Brand while Chromecast is a google brand which is based in the US.

They are both used as a streaming device using USB/HDMI cable thru a WIFI connection.
