Macbook Pro 2011 Issues

I tried to factory reset my 2011 MacBook Pro, but it seemed to delete everything. I need to reinstall the OS but it asks for an email and password that have long been deleted and forgotten! It sucks that I can no longer use this laptop because it was a trusty companion to me.

Has this happened to anyone else?

This also happened with an old iMac I was troubleshooting. The owner remembered his user credentials but Apple no longer offers the old operating system for download. I'm not very familiar with the box of a newly bought iMac if it does include a recovery disc or an installer of the operating system but it seems to be another option to revive the machine.

Yeah, I figured I would be able to download a new OS but a new iMac is most definitely not in my budget(sadly)!
