Setting a password for a laptop is a simple but effective way to keep information secure, avoiding the blind spot of bad guys.

Many of us are using laptops to keep records, important information, etc...To be more secure you can set the password for your laptop as follows:

Step 1: Open the Start Menu and select Settings to enter the settings.
Step 2: Continue selecting Account in the list of functions.
Step 3: You choose Sign-in Options.
Step 4: Select Add to set the password.

There will be 3 cells displayed:

New password: Enter your password password
Reenter Password: Retype password once more
Password Hint: Password hint so you can remember when you forgot your password.

Finish the task and you have a new password. Good luck!

I agree with you that you decide to share this simple steps but this is very important especially to laptop users or even PC owners, some people using laptop is not aware of making a password or any other security codes because of confident in ownership, they own it and they think its safe but the value and importance of passwords will be noticed when they lost their laptops and it contains important details or videos.

Nice and easy guide, but does it works like this on all operating systems? With my Windows 10, step 4 says Password somewhere, along with a Change button. And for a Mac it could be completely different.

What I'm getting at, is that you should let us know for which operating system you are giving a guide.
